Voyage, voyage is a song written by Dominique Albert Dubois and Jean-Michel Rivat and recorded by the French singer Desireless . It was released in December 1986 as a single from their album François and became an international number one hit in over ten countries, including Germany , Austria , Belgium , Denmark , Greece , Norway and Spain . In other countries it reached chart positions among the top ten, for example second place in France.

The piece is sung in French, an up-tempo dance song held in a minor key with slight influences from the Hi-NRG subgenre , which was popular at the time and which became a surprising chart success in 1987. In Germany it was the single that stayed in the charts the longest that year. In the period from the beginning of July to mid-December, she was able to secure the top position there for five weeks in a row. In France, the song failed to make it to number one, but stayed for four weeks at No. 2, where it remained 21 weeks in the charts of 13 December 1986 to 9 May 1987. In Switzerland was Voyage, voyage , though never number one in the weekly charts, due to the long stay from April to November 1987, winner of the annual hit parade.
In Great Britain the original version was less successful at number 53, but Desireless reached number 5 on the British singles chart in June 1988 with a remix version by Pete Hammond and Pete Waterman .
Alongside Ella, elle l'a from France Gall and Alors on danse from Stromae , Voyage, voyage was one of only three French-language number one hits in Germany.
Cover versions
In 2008 the Belgian singer Kate Ryan covered the song and reached 13th place in Germany. This version was also charted in six other countries and in some cases again reached positions in the top ten. The song was released as a double single for the Eurogames 2007 event in Belgium, the second single was the anthem for the We All Belong event . A music video was also made for Voyage, voyage . The song appeared on the album Free .
The German original recording was also made in 1986 and came from the Fernando Express group . They covered the title Voyage, voyage in German and released it as a single. In February 2012, a cover version of the title appeared on the album Narrow of the Soap & Skin project . The song was also covered in 1995 by the Russian metal band Boney NEM . From Gregorian and Bananarama also exist cover versions.
