Vranjina ( Cyrillic Врањина ) is an island in Lake Skadar , belonging to the Montenegrin municipality of Podgorica .
Created by the delta of the Morača River , the island is located in the northern part of the lake. It has an area of about 4.8 km² and is the highest island in Montenegro with a height of 296 m above sea level.
The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge (to Podgorica ) and to Bar by a dam that runs across the lake .
The St. Nikolas Monastery is probably the most famous sight on the island. The city of Vranjina, located on the shores of Lake Skodar, is often referred to as the Montenegrin Venice due to its natural potential . It is also a popular place for fishing . There are several fish restaurants on the island, of which the Plantaže Restaurant is probably the most famous.
