Vreed en Hoop is a municipality with about 3000 inhabitants in the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara province in Guyana . It is located at the mouth of the Demerara River. Vreed en Hoop is the administrative center of the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. Vreed en Hoop includes smaller communities such as Malgre Tout, Versailles, Klein Pouderoyen, New Road, Plantain Walk and Coglan Bush. There are regular ferry services to Georgetown .
