Vytautas Petras Plečkaitis

Vytautas Petras Plečkaitis (born October 16, 1950 in Kalvarija ) is a Lithuanian diplomat and politician.

Life

From 1957 to 1966 he studied at the Kalvarija Middle School . After graduating from the Kalvarija evening school in 1968 , he studied history at the Vilniaus universitetas (VU) from 1968 . In 1972 he was supposed to break off his studies because of anti-Soviet activities. From 1978 to 1981 he completed his diploma course at VU. From 1966 to 1968 he was a construction worker. From 1972 to 1974 he served in the Soviet Army. In 1975 he worked as a teacher in Marijampolė . From 1990 to 1996 he was a member of the Seimas , from 1996 ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova , from 2001 to 2005 advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania , from 2005 consul general in Geneva , from 2007 to 2010 ambassador to Switzerland .

From 1988 he was a member of Sąjūdis , from 1991 the Lietuvos socialdemokratų partija .

His brother is Romanas Plečkaitis .
