The Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank was a German financial institution with headquarters in Ludwigsburg . As a branchless direct bank , it recently offered checking accounts, payment cards and securities trading.

Company history

On 9 August 1968, was Wüstenrot Bank AG for the housing industry into the commercial register at the District Court entered Ludwigsburg. The main task of the bank at that time was to support the customers of the building society in financing their real estate projects. The entire extra-collective deposit business was later taken over by the Bausparkasse.

In 1985 the construction of the first 10 bank branches began. In 1988 there were already 34 branches with 300 employees on site, and the range of products and services was expanded to include all forms of money and asset formation, payment transactions via current accounts, personal loans and securities transactions. The bank name was also shortened to Wüstenrot Bank AG.

In 1990 a restructuring took place in which all administrative tasks were centralized in the head office and new, more cost-effective locations were sought for the remaining branches. The last branch was closed at the end of 2002.

In 2005, Wüstenrot Bank AG merged with Wüstenrot Hypothekenbank to form Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank . One of the first universal banks with a Pfandbrief license under the new law was created.

On June 1, 2017, the parent company Wüstenrot & Württembergische AG announced that a sale of the bank was being examined. At the end of March 2018, the sale to Bremer Kreditbank was sealed, which was finally completed on May 31, 2019. Bremer Kreditbank AG has now merged with Oldenburgische Landesbank . Before the merger of Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank, the land charges were transferred to Wüstenrot Bausparkasse AG, which has thus become the legal successor to the land charges. On November 29, 2019, the Wüstenrot Bank merged with the Oldenburgische Landesbank.
