Wladyslaw Arcimowicz

Władysław Arcimowicz (* 1900 in Švenčionys ; † May 11, 1942 in Vilnius ) was a Polish literary critic and Polonist who was particularly concerned with the works of Cyprian Kamil Norwid .

Life

Arcimowicz completed a degree in Polish Studies at the Stefan Batory University . He made his debut as a literary critic in 1924 with the review U nowych źródeł. Garść uwag o "Trzeciej Polsce" K. Leczyckiego , published in the Vilnius magazine Słowo . That year he was the publisher and editor of the Švenčionys magazine Hejnał . After obtaining his master's degree , he worked as a teacher in general schools and at the teachers' college in Vilnius. In addition, he continued his studies until 1933 he received his doctorate . He has published articles on literary history and criticism as well as poems and translations from Russian in several magazines. He also worked with the Vilnius radio station. During the Second World War he stayed in Vilnius, where he died on May 11, 1942.
