WWJD stands for “ W hat w ould J esus d o?” ( English for “What would Jesus do?” ), The abbreviation for a slogan that is mainly found on bracelets. The idea behind the slogan is to be reminded with such bracelets, to ask yourself in everything you do how Jesus Christ would react, act or think in this situation.

The term is borrowed from Charles Sheldon's 1896 novel In His Steps and is the basis on which a businessman makes his decisions. Jamie Tinklenberg rediscovered the question "What would Jesus do?" In January 1989, the youth pastor of the Wesleyan Church of Holland in Holland, Michigan approached businessmen Ken and Mike Freestone to make badges with the expression. They produced the badges and also brought out a bracelet with the expression. The bracelets quickly spread among American youth evangelical Christians and became a fad.
