The standard gauge tank locomotives WLE 0106-0107 of the Westfälische Landes-Eisenbahn (WLE) were steam locomotives without running axles with the wheel arrangement E for freight train operations, of which Hanomag delivered two locomotives in 1928. They were in operation until 1963 and were then retired and scrapped.

history

They were clearly superior to the WLE 0101–0105 in terms of size and power, but not as powerful as the two T 16 series locomotives bought second-hand in 1934 . They proved their worth in everyday operation and were able to move a load of 300 t on inclines of 20 ‰. When they were taken over, they were referred to as 106 and 107, and it was not until the 1950s that they were given the four-digit serial number with a prefixed 0. The 0106 locomotive was nicknamed Hoff after Wilhelm Hoff , an organizer of the Prussian railway system.

During the 30 years of use, the original kerosene lighting was replaced by an electric one with a turbo generator , a mixing preheater was installed and the side ventilation flaps in the driver's cab roof were replaced by sliding roofs during a general inspection at Henschel in Kassel in 1949 .

Thanks to the axles that could be moved laterally, the locomotives were able to drive through curved tracks of 180 m, and they could also drive on a drainage hill with a radius of 300 m. The locomotives survived the Second World War . With the procurement of diesel locomotives , their services could be dispensed with. In 1963 both locomotives were scrapped in the Lippstadt workshop .

The locomotives had a high boiler position. The overall height was made possible by a shorter chimney length and a flatter cab shape. They had three domes with two sand domes on the top of the boiler.

The superheated steam locomotives were equipped with riveted steel boilers, copper fire boxes and spindle tilting grates. The smoke tube superheater was construction Schmidt, there were a feedwater heater, a feed pump of Knorr , an injector design Friedmann and thermoelectric pyrometer . The original piston valves were designed as Müller valves after 1950 .

The drive was designed with Gölsdorf axles . The second and fourth axles were firmly mounted in the frame. All other wheels could be moved 26 mm to both sides. The wheel flange of the driving axle was additionally weakened by 10 mm. In addition, the locomotives had a wheel tire wetting device. The sanding system was pneumatic. The locomotive had four sand pipes on each side of the engine, which sanded the second and third axles depending on the direction of travel. There was also a Ramsbotton type safety valve , a Latowski type steam flare , a desludging device and a lubricating pump. The coal box was later given an attachment during a renovation, which stretched almost the entire width between the rear windows and was about one meter high. The locomotives had a steam heater .
