WOH G64 is one of the largest known stars . It is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud , a companion galaxy to the Milky Way, and can be found in the constellation Swordfish , which is located in the southern hemisphere.
WOH G64 is a red hypergiant around which a thick dust ring with a diameter of about 30,000 AU has formed. The star , which has already lost a large part of its original mass due to the ejection of matter into the dust ring, will explode as a supernova in about 1,000 to 10,000 years .
