WOI-FM is an American radio station from Ames , Iowa . The station provides Iowa Public Radio (IPR) programming to Greater Ames and the Des Moines metropolitan area . WOI-FM is licensed for 100 k W on FM 90.1 M Hz . Like the AM sister station WOI, the station is owned by Iowa State University . The station is the flagship of IPR's "News and Studio One".

WOI-FM went on the air on December 1, 1949 as one of the first VHF stations in the USA. It has been broadcasting its own program since the 1960s and no longer takes over the contents of WOI.
