As a clear channel station , WOR broadcasts with 50 kW largely exclusively on 710 kHz and can be heard in the evenings on the entire US east coast.

Since the station was taken over by iHeartMedia , WOR-AM has broadcast a mix of local radio shows and radio shows that were mostly taken over by Premiere Networks . WOR has also been an affiliate of NBC News Radio since 2016 .

history

WOR went on air in 1922 as one of the first stations in the city with a 0.5 kW transmitter. The WOR morning show "Rambling with Gambling" was broadcast continuously from March 8, 1925 to September 11, 2000 and again from 2008 to 2013.

Over the years the transmission power has been increased to 50 kW. As a result, the station could be received on the entire North American east coast. Jean Parker Shepherd was one of its most famous presenters.

WOR was the flagship station of the WOR Radio Network for a long time . The network distributed (syndicated) in-house productions from its studios on 111 Broadway in New York to its affiliates throughout the US. After WOR was bought by Clear Channel Communications (now iHeart Media), all WOR broadcasts went to iHeart's own syndicate service, Premiere Networks .

iHeartMedia (then Clear Channel Communication) bought WOR-AM in December 2012 and now owns both of the leading talk radio stations in NYC. The series of the most popular talk shows developed by WABC and shown there for decades have been moved to WOR.

Distribution channels
