Wade Fox

Rufus Wade Fox, Jr. (* 1920 in Hilton , Virginia , † September 20, 1964 ) was an American zoologist and herpetologist . He specialized in the anatomy of snakes and the systematics of western garter snakes .

Fox completed from 1946 to 1950 a doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley with Robert C. Stebbins, which he completed with the dissertation Biology of the Garter Snakes of the San Francisco Bay Region . In addition, he was from 1943 to 1949 assistant to the curator for herpetology in the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology at the university.

He was associate editor of Copeia magazine and 1964 president of the Herpetologists' League .
