The Wadi Najran ( Arabic وادي نجران, DMG Wādī Naǧrān , also referred to as Wadi Najran ) is a typical river in Saudi Arabia and Yemen that only carries water at times . It runs approx. 300 km from west ( Asir Mountains and the highlands of Yemen) to east to get lost near the city of Najran in the plain of the sandy desert Rub al-Kali . Due to the intensive use of groundwater around Najran, drying and settlement processes lead to widespread formation of "crevices". To the west of Najran there is a reservoir with a capacity of up to 86 million cubic meters ( Najran dam ) with a 73 m high arch dam.
