Metod Doležil

Metod Doležil (born October 15, 1885 in Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem , † October 10, 1971 in Prague ) was a Czech choir director and music teacher.

After attending grammar school in Olomouc (1896–1900), the son of a teacher first studied at the Pedagogical Institute. This was followed by studies at the Prague Conservatory in the subjects of conducting with Vítězslav Novák and conducting with František Spilka . After his return from the First World War, he taught at the Conservatory and Charles University . From 1912 to 1923 and from 1943 to 1946 he worked as a choir conductor with the Prague Teachers' Association ( Pěvecké sdružení pražských učitelek ). His book Intonace a elementární rytmus appeared in several editions (1922, 1942, 1947).
