Vadim Nikolajewitsch Krasnoselski ( Russian Вадим Николаевич Красносельский ; born April 14, 1970 in Sabaikalsk Raion , Chita Oblast , RSFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Transnistrian politician and since December 16, 2016 President of the internationally unrecognized Transnistria.

Life

After Wadim Krasnoselski's father was transferred to Bendery as a Soviet soldier in 1978 , the family moved to the Moldovan SSR . In Bender, Krasnoselski obtained his university entrance qualification in 1987 and in the same year began studying at the Polytechnic Institute in Odessa , but in the same year switched to a military school in Kharkiv, Ukraine . Even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Krasnoselski initially stayed in Ukraine and completed his studies there in 1993.

Then he returned to Bender, which in the meantime belonged to the de facto independent Transnistria . There Krasnoselski joined the security forces of Transnistria and made a career there. In 2002 he completed an additional law degree at the Transnistrian State University . In 2006, Krasnoselski was promoted to colonel and held a leading position in the Interior Ministry. Between 2007 and 2012 he was interior minister of the de facto regime , and in 2008 he was given the rank of general . After 2012 he worked as the chief of the security service of Sheriff , the largest Transnistrian company. In the 2015 parliamentary elections, he was elected as a member of the Supreme Soviet, the Parliament of Transnistria. He was President of Parliament since December 23, 2015 . He emerged from the Transnistrian presidential election in December 2016 as the clear winner and succeeded Yevgeny Shevchuk as President of Transnistria.
