Waffelherzen (Norwegian: "Vaffelhjarte") is a children's television series by the Norwegian state television broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) and was first broadcast in 2011 on NRK Super . The series is based on the children's book of the same name by the author Maria Parr and directed by Atle Knudsen .

Most of the series takes place in the fictional place Knert-Mathilde. The NRK chose the island of Runde in western Norway and the southern coastal region of Sunnmøre in the Norwegian Fylke Møre og Romsdal as the shooting location .

The plot

The two nine-year-old children Trille and Lena live in the village of Knert-Mathilde in Sunnmøre. They are the only children of that age living out here by the sea. They are neighbors, but Trille would like to be Lena's best friend. Lena thinks that doesn't work because she might move away soon and best friends have to live in the same place, right? They spend a lot of time together, playing soccer and street musicians, doing mischief together and sharing secrets. But the most important thing is that Lena and Trille know how aunt-grandma makes waffle hearts.

Award

Vaffelhjarte won the Gullruten award in 2012 in the category "Best Children and Youth Program" and on the platform Barnevakten.no it was named "the best family program of this year.

publication

The individual episodes of the family series were also released on DVD in 2012 .

In the meantime, the 7 individual episodes have been translated into German and broadcast several times on KIKA.
