Coordinates: 33 ° 18 ′ S , 117 ° 20 ′ E The Shire of Wagin is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 1948 km² and has about 1850 inhabitants (2016).
Wagin is located in the western Australian "wheat belt" in the southwest of the state about 205 kilometers southeast of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the village of Wagin , where about 1350 inhabitants live (2016)

The Wagin Council has eleven members. They are elected by all residents of the LGA. Wagin is not divided into districts. The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
