Wagner Love
Wagner Love is a four-piece German soul-pop band from Frankfurt am Main that was founded in 2003.
Band history
Members are Jacob Vetter (vocals, guitar), the brothers Ravel (keyboards) and Marcel Meeth (drums) and Tilmann Köllner (bass). At first they appeared under the name Rotari Klub, later they named themselves after the Brazilian soccer player Vágner Love (currently Beşiktaş ). The debut album Everything About was released in 2008.
style
The music processes elements of pop, soul and disco and is reminiscent of Jamiroquai . Laut.de writes: “The band's sound has long had a special, very own style, which draws on quotations from past decades of music, but never slips into pure epigonism. ... A lot of style and class from past decades come together: Starting with the springy lightness of the Lou Rawls brand and funky Odyssey rhythms to that specific Munich sound that once helped Silver Convention, Donna Summer and Boney M. to world-wide chart success . Even Isaac Hayes and the disco era of the Bee Gees send their regards. ”Wagner Love is produced by Roland Spremberg , who has already worked with BAP , Wingenfelder and Alphaville .
Notoriety
Wagner Love is under contract with EMI and had their first hit with their debut single I Know , which was, however, not very successful in radio stations. He became known as one of the title plays in Love Vegas starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher . In addition, the band was the supporting act of Lenny Kravitz at his concert in August 2008 in Hanover.
