The constituency law in North Rhine-Westphalia laid down the naming and mutual delimitation of the constituencies for the state elections . It thus carried out the provisions set out in Section 13 of the State Election Act (LWahlG). In 2016, the constituency law was integrated as an annex into the NRW state election law.
The current number of constituencies is 128 in accordance with Section 13 (1) LWahlG and Section 1 (1) WahlKrG.
In order to ensure a balanced relationship between the spatial size of the constituencies and the population in the constituencies, the Ministry of the Interior submits a regular report to the state parliament on any changes required (Section 2 WahlKrG).
