The Waimea Stream is a narrow river in the Southland region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Waimea Stream rises around 3.5 km northeast of Lumsden and flows into the Mataura River around 1.5 km east of Mandeville . The stream stretches for around 35 miles through the Waimea Plains and has been largely straightened.
Networking
The river, like the Mataura River and its other tributaries, is a well-known body of trout fishing.
