Waldbühne Zußdorf
The Waldbühne Zußdorf is an open-air theater in the area of the municipality of Wilhelmsdorf (Württemberg) in Upper Swabia . The stage is mainly used for amateur theater performances. An open-air cinema was also held for the first time in 2009 . The stage is operated by the Waldbühne Zußdorf association of the same name .
location
The Waldbühne Zußdorf is located on the western outskirts, right next to the forest sports field of the Zußdorf sports club. The stage stands directly above the Zussdorfer Ruggenbach, the access to the stage is via the street Zocklersteige.
history
The stage for the performance of Peter Pan was designed and built from a former gravel pit in 2007 for the 50th anniversary of the Zußdorf sports club and the 125th anniversary of the Zußdorf volunteer fire brigade . The planting of the gravel pit and the construction of the former grandstand of the former Ravensburg ice rink St. Christina were the main components of the stage construction. Among other things, tunnels and piece-specific paths were created for the actors.
In 2009 the association Waldbühne Zußdorf was founded, one of the aims of which is: "With the Waldbühne Zußdorf a strong and lively community project is to be created, which stands out due to its cultural diversity and exceptionality". The focus of the activities is on the theater as an in-house production, which is intended to be an integral part of the Waldbühne. In addition, other cultural activities and demonstrations can be carried out under the direction of the Waldbühne Zußdorf.

Other events
The Waldbühne was also the venue outside of the open-air theater performances. The Waldbühne has been the venue for the “Zussdorfer Open Air Cinema” three times since 2009, and in 2016 for the first time under the organization and implementation of the operating association. In addition, in 2014 the “Arena 2014 - the children's group match in Zussdorf” of the Zussdorf children's groups took place.
On the occasion of the 60th birthday of the jazz drummer Gregor Beck , who grew up in Zussdorf, the Waldbühne Zußdorf invited to a classic jazz concert in April 2018.
Awards
Alle Hopp - people, neighbors, sensations directed by Thomas Beck was one of the three nominated open-air theater pieces for the State Amatheur Theater Prize Lamathea 2015. The level of the piece and the staging was described as "dizzying high".
The stage today
The stage is currently (2017) under special nature protection and may only be used under conditions of the district office and the regional council. The renovation work since 2007 shows some legacies on the stage, such as tunnel systems, created secret paths, some huts and crates, as well as a solid foundation of the stage.
The operator
The association of the Waldbühne Zußdorf eV is committed to the cultural promotion in Zußdorf and the region. Currently (2017) the association has 503 members. Its preamble makes the association unique in the community: "An association that does not fill the coffers, but the hearts of the people." The association is a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Association of Amateur Theater .
