Waldemar "Fips" Philippi (born April 13, 1929 ; † October 4, 1990 ) was a German soccer player and record player for the Saarland national soccer team . He was considered one of the best German defenders in the early 1950s.

Philippi played for 1. FC Saarbrücken from 1945 to 1960 . He completed 265 mandatory cup and league games in the DFB system , two European cup games and a season in the second French league , in which Saarbrücken took part for one year after being excluded from the Oberliga Südwest -Nord in 1948/49.

Because of the political status of Saarland , he could not play in the German national team, but with 18 appearances (out of a total of 19) became a record national player for the Saarland Football Association .
