Waldsteinberg is a district of the town of Brandis in the district of Leipzig , Saxony, surrounded by forest . The village lies on the western slope of the Kohlenberg and is traversed by the Lazy Parthe .
Up until the turn of the year 1989 there were about 350 inhabitants in this scattered settlement . As of June 30, 2008, 920 people lived in the village. The place was part of the place Cämmerei until the incorporation in 1929 .
Waldsteinberg has a good connection to the federal highway 14 to Leipzig . The state road 43 leads through the place. There are many quarries and bathing lakes in the vicinity. The stones for the Völkerschlachtdenkmal in Leipzig were broken in the local quarry .
