The Waldviertler Sparkasse von 1842 AG was a banking company based in Waidhofen an der Thaya and a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association . It was one of the largest regional banks in the upper Waldviertel .
history
The mayor Anton Kroppus and the innkeeper Karl Gratschmayer developed the statutes for the savings bank association in Waidhofen in 1842 . It was founded on March 1, 1842 as a savings bank association of the princely town of Waidhofen an der Thaya .
In 1980 the Sparkasse Waidhofen / Thaya merged with the Sparkasse Litschau, which was founded in 1872 as Vereinssparkasse Litschau , under the new company name Waldviertler Sparkasse from 1842 . A year later, in 1981, the Waldviertler Sparkasse from 1842 merged with the Sparkasse Raabs / Thaya, which was established in 1873.
On June 20, 1993, the Sparkasse was the first foreign bank to be granted a full banking license by the Czech National Bank to set up branches throughout the Czech Republic .
In 2006, the Sparkasse changed its legal form to a stock corporation . In 2012, the Waldviertler Sparkasse von 1842 AG, Waidhofen / Thaya, merged with the Sparkasse Waldviertel-Mitte Bank AG, Zwettl, to form the Waldviertler Sparkasse Bank AG, Zwettl. The entry in the commercial register was made on September 3, 2012.

The Waldviertler Sparkasse looks after its home market of the Upper Waldviertel, South Bohemia, South Moravia and the Hochland region with 12 branches (6 in Austria and 6 in the Czech Republic).
