Valery Alexandrowitsch Nikitin ( Russian Валерий Александрович Никитин ; born June 20, 1939 in Moscow , † January 13, 2002 ) was a Soviet ice hockey player who spent most of his career at Chimik Voskressensk and was world champion with the Soviet national team in 1967 and 1970 .

Career

Valery Nikitin spent almost his entire career at Chimik Voskressensk . Between 1956 and 1975 he played for Chimik in the Vysschaya League , the top division of the USSR, and scored 134 goals in 510 games. In 1972 he received permission to play for WAT Stadlau in Austria . He was active for Stadlau until 1974.

Early on in his career, he was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team. On November 25, 1960, he was in a game against Canada for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the ice hockey world championships in 1967 and 1970. For the national team, he scored 3 goals in 43 international matches. On December 21, 1970 he played his last international match. In 1967 he was honored with inclusion in the list of Honored Masters of Sports of the USSR and Russia in ice hockey .

After he had finished his playing career, Nikitin worked as a coach, including at Salawat Yulayev Ufa (1975-1979), Molot Perm (1980, 1982) and Chimik Woskressensk (1995-1997). Later he looked after the junior team Belyje Medvedi in Moscow.

Nikitin died on January 13, 2002 and was buried in the Vagankovo ​​Cemetery in Moscow.
