Valery Alexandrowitsch Pokrowski ( Russian Валерий Александрович Покровский ; born May 17, 1978 in Sverdlovsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HK Spartak Moscow in the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Valery Pokrovsky began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg . In the senior sector, he ran for the first time for the professional team of SKA Saint Petersburg , for which he was active in the Russian Super League from 1997 to 2001 . In the following two years the defender changed clubs several times and was under contract in the super league with HK Metschel Tscheljabinsk , HK Awangard Omsk and HK CSKA Moscow .

From 2003 to 2008 Pokrovsky played again for his ex-club SKA Saint Petersburg in the super league. He also began the 2008/09 season in Saint Petersburg, which had been accepted into the newly established Continental Hockey League . In this he gave an assist in two games before he spent the following year and a half in the Russian capital at HK Spartak Moscow . For the 2010/11 season , the Russian was committed by his league rival Amur Khabarovsk . A year later Pokrovsky moved to HK Sibir Novosibirsk before returning to Spartak Moscow in December 2011.
