Valeri Ivanovich Galzow ( Russian Валерий Иванович Гальцов , scientific transliteration Valerij Ivanovič Gal'cov; born February 23, 1947 in Lubny , Soviet Union ) is a Russian historian and university professor in Kaliningrad .

Life

In 1971 Galzow graduated from the Moscow State University for Historical Archives (today the Russian State University for the Humanities ). At this university he received his doctorate in 1976 under Sigurt Ottowitsch Schmidt .

From 1976 Galzow worked as a senior lecturer at the State University of Kaliningrad (today the Baltic Federal University of Immanuel Kant ) at the Department of History of the USSR, Patriotic Pre-Revolutionary History. He has been a private lecturer since 1984. From 1984 to 1991 he was Vice Rector for Distance and Evening Studies. Since 1994 he has been dean of the university's history faculty and holds the chair for special history subjects and regional history. He and his wife came to Germany for the first time in June 2010 for the 180th foundation festival of the Corps Masovia in Potsdam .
