history

The first written mention of the place name can be found in Traditions 86 and 92 of the Biburg Monastery from the 12th century (1172–1177). In tradition 86, Zacharias von Umelsdorf leaves a meadow in Staudach that his father Rotbert Sattelband had previously transferred, and on the same day hands over the bondage Berthold on censorship law with an interest of five pfennigs.

As witnesses of this transfer of ownership are u. a. Chunradus de Walgershouen (Trad. 86) or Engilbertus de Walkershouen (Trad. 92) named. Like all places ending in hofen (plural form of Old High German "hof", rural property, farm), the place name is derived from a personal name. Walgershouen can be traced back to a person named Waldger, Waltker or Waldgaer, so that the place name is something like: "The village (or the farms) of Waldger".

The settlement probably started in the area of today's Baumeister-Hof (house no. 4), which can thus be regarded as the original Meier. The canonical establishment of the parish Walkertsdhofen took place in 1439.

In 1808 the Walkertshofen tax district was formed, and in 1818 the Walkertshofen community in the Abensberg district court . It later belonged to the Mainburg district . In addition to Walkertshofen, Spitzau was still part of the municipality in 1952, the Heiblhof was incorporated in 1955 and Hötzelsdorf in 1958. As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the Walkertshofen community became part of the new Attenhofen community on January 1, 1978.
