criticism
Walking on a Dream received mostly positive reviews. Maximilian Nitzke from CDStarts.de wrote:
"The real bang comes with Swordfish Hotkiss Night . White-Hop at its best. Somewhere between Bloc Party, Justin Timberlake's disco tracks and HipHop. That really blows you away and is by no means boring. Hilarious and at the same time just groovy. Then it returns the album back to the beginning style and for the quiet among us there is also a ballad, which is not half as fun as the dance floor sweepers. Who is surprised if you are looking for something completely different and also a fan of the It's 80s, please take it, because such a beautiful interpretation of this decade will definitely not be available again anytime soon. "
Michael Schuh from Laut.de also gave the album a very positive review:
"Failed or simply too long-winded experiments can only be found in the second half of the album (terrible: the softpop slob ballad Without You ; the only bright spot: the electro-funk Swordfish Hotkiss Night ), whereas the new Siegfried & Roy of synth-pop have their trump cards play in full bloom at the beginning.
Standing on the Shore , Half Mast and We Are the People alone should be enough to remember Empire of the Sun on the second album. The band's own mix of cotton pop from the 70s, freak out exotic and retro electro was managed by another duo that is more sustainable (and freakier): MGMT . "
