Walter Bedford "Wally" Armstrong (born March 8, 1906 in Bolton , † September 24, 1950 in Westbury ) was an English football player .

Career

Armstrong was registered in March 1927 by the Bolton Wanderers as an amateur in the Football League and appeared for the reserve team, in April 1927 he was successful in a 2-1 defeat in a friendly game of the reserves against Worksop Town as a goalscorer; he also played as a center forward for Atherton in the Lancashire Combination .

In October 1927 he came first on an amateur basis in the Third Division South for Watford FC . He made his debut on October 8, 1927 in a 3-1 defeat by Bristol Rovers in the center-forward position. Although he then moved up to the professional in November 1927, it was no longer enough for further competitive appearances for the first team. He was not committed beyond the season, but worked again unsuccessfully as a test player at Watford in the pre-season. As a result, he was at Darwen FC , from January 1929 again at Atherton, where he still played in late 1929. In July 1929 he completed a trial training at Notts County , in October 1934 he was reamateurised and was active in London for the British Thomson-Houston factory team .

Armstrong died in September 1950, leaving behind a wife and children.
