The Yūbetsu-gawa ( Japanese 湧 別 川 ) is an 87 km long tributary of the Sea of Okhotsk on the Japanese island of Hokkaidō . The course of the river is in the Okhotsk sub-prefecture .
River course
The Yūbetsu-gawa rises in the Kitami Mountains on the northern flank of the 1643 m high Ariake . From there it initially flows 10 km north. It then turns 10 km to the east and finally to the northeast. It flows through the cities of Engaru and Yūbetsu before finally reaching the north coast of Hokkaidō. Lake Saroma is 5 km east of the estuary .
Hydrology
The catchment area covers 1480 km². The mean discharge is 33.56 m³ / s.
