The bank was founded in 1894 as the "Savings and Loan Association Mittelberg" in Kleinwalsertal, Austria. In 1964 it was renamed "Raiffeisenbank Kleinwalsertal", and in 2010 it was renamed "Walser Privatbank AG". In 2011 branches were opened in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart.

In 2016 proceedings were initiated against bank employees on suspicion of aiding and abetting tax evasion . The Walser Privatbank paid a fine of over 5.4 million euros.
