Walter Becker Slocombe (born September 23, 1941 in Albuquerque , New Mexico ) is an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Live and act

Slocombe was initially Deputy Under Secretary of Defense of the Carter -Regierung, then US Secretary of Defense of the Clinton administration , Deputy Secretary of Defense under George W. Bush , a senior adviser to the Iraqi Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad (2003) and above employees in US Ministry of Defense from 1994 to 2001.

As a lawyer, Slocombe began his career as a staff member on the United States National Security Council in 1969. Previously, he had experience with the United States Supreme Court under Abe Fortas . He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations . After serving in the government, Slocombe joined a law firm in Washington, DC .

education

Slocombe made his Bachelor of Arts at Princeton University in 1963. He then received one of the coveted Rhodes Scholarships , the selection of which is made in addition to academic qualities, character traits and athletic abilities. He spent the years 1963 to 1965 at the University of Oxford . He graduated from the law faculty of Harvard University in 1968 summa cum laude .
