Walter Ballof (born September 10, 1893 in Tondern ; † October 7, 1957 in Bremerhaven ) was a German politician (SPD) and from 1947 a member of the Bremen citizenship.

Life

Ballof had been a commercial school teacher in Bremerhaven since the 1920s. He had been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 1926 . In the time of National Socialism he was dismissed as a teacher and worked as the owner of a sauerkraut cutter. After the Second World War he was first mayor of Wesermünde in 1946 . He sat from 1947 to June 3, 1948 in the Bremen citizenship , when he was elected for Gerhard van Heukelum in the Economic Council of the United Economic Area . From 1948 to 1949 he was also an honorary city ​​councilor and department head for schools and youth care in Bremerhaven. Conflicts between him and the conservative city school councilor Walter Zimmermann are said to have led to Ballof being deposed as city councilor by the American military government in May 1949.
