Walter Brunner (politician)

Walter Brunner (born September 3, 1947 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and former mayor of the city ​​of Leonding .

Life

Walter Brunner graduated from the BRG Linz Fadingerstraße and then studied social and economic sciences . He was the managing director of Assisto GmbH (BBRZ group). He has been on the local council since 1986. From 1997 to 2008 he was Deputy Mayor of Leonding ; from 2008 he held the office of mayor, which he took over from Herbert Sperl . In 2014, after restructuring in the city administration, allegations of bullying were raised against Brunner. On October 11, 2015, he was re-elected after a runoff election with 64.81% of the vote.

On February 20, 2019, Brunner handed over the mayor's office to his previous deputy Sabine Naderer-Jelinek , who initially led the office on an interim basis and was elected mayor on May 26, 2019.

Brunner is married, has two children and two grandchildren.
