Walter Fassbender

Walter Fassbender (* 1916 ; † January 9, 1972 ) was a German insurance company .

Life

Walter Fassbender studied law and in 1941 at the University of Cologne with the work , the number as a trademark for Dr. iur. PhD. Together with his brother Hans Heinrich Faßbender, he joined the family company Deutsche Auto-Rechtsschutz-AG (DARAG) founded by his father Heinrich Faßbender in 1935.one and became one of the main shareholders. In 1948 he converted the company to Arag Allgemeine Rechtsschutz-Versicherungs-AG and expanded the legal protection idea to other areas of legal life at home and abroad. In 1962 he founded the first Arag company in the Netherlands. Specialist lawyers made it possible for German customers to establish new business relationships abroad through the insurance system. He initiated the takeover of the composite insurer Terra Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG in Saarbrücken. In 1965 he relocated the Arag headquarters to Düsseldorf. The stake in Gisela Allgemeine Lebensversicherungs- und Aussteuer-Versicherungs-AG, acquired in 1965, became ARAG Lebensversicherungs-AG after his death in 1981. His brother Hans Heinrich Faßbender became the main shareholder in 1972. Walter's son, Paul-Otto Faßbender , has been the main shareholder of the ARAG insurance group since 1998 .

In 1959 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in the Fulda Cathedral on September 26, 1959 by Archbishop Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the Order, and Friedrich August von der Heydte , Governor in Germany . Most recently he was a Grand Officer of the Order.

Since 1937 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Ripuaria Bonn .
