Lucas Hinrich Eding

Lucas Hinrich Eding (born March 30, 1717 in Hamburg ; † October 28, 1790 there ) was a Hamburg merchant and senior citizen .

Origin and family

Eding's parents were the Hamburg merchant Benedict Eding (1685–1736) and Anna Dorothea Corthum (1690–1720), daughter of the archdeacon at the main church Sankt Nikolai in Hamburg Justus Corthum (1653–1724).

In 1749 he married Catharina Siemers (1727–1805) and had two daughters with her, of whom Catharina (1754–1806) married the Hamburg merchant Libert Westphalen (1750–1813) and was the mother of senior secretary Nicolaus Adolf Westphalen (1793–1854) has been.

Live and act

Eding established himself as a businessman in Hamburg and held numerous public offices as a citizen. He was elected to the cattle accise in 1751 and to the orphanage in 1753 , as a commercial judge to the lower court and to the war commissioner . In 1756 he was elected as a citizen to the fortification and in 1757 to the lap and the admiralty . 1758 he was at the bank and the finance department operates. In 1774 Eding became a member of the deputation for the acceptance of foreigners.

Eding also held honorary church positions. In 1750 he was adjunct , in 1756 subdeacon and in 1765 deacon , jurat and coffin administrator .

On February 12, 1777 Eding was elected as the successor to Johann Koep (1705–1777), senior elder in the parish of Sankt Nikolai . In 1781 Eding was sworn to the corpse as such , in 1783 aged at the orphanage and in 1784 also President of the College of the Elderly.
