Walter Gau

Walter Gau (born June 2, 1956 in Feldkirch ; † August 20, 2020 ) was an Austrian politician ( FPÖ , BZÖ ) and an independent insurance broker. Gau was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1999 to 2004 .

education and profession

Walter Gau was born on June 2, 1956 as the son of Pädak professor Josef Gau and his wife Sieglinde in the Vorarlberg district capital Feldkirch. After attending primary school in Feldkirch-Altenstadt and secondary school in Feldkirch-Levis , he became a student at the Bundesrealgymnasium Feldkirch . After starting his career as an employee at the Feldkirch regional and district court in 1974 , he completed part-time from 1974 to 1976 the Maturaschule Dr. Roland in Vienna, which he completed in 1976 with the Matura . In 1978 Walter Gau became an employee of the anchor insurance and 1982 an employee of the Vorarlberger Landes Versicherung (VLV). In 1990 he started his career as an insurance broker at Kollmann, which was followed in 1994 by setting up his own insurance office as an independent insurance salesman . In 2009, the former Vice Chancellor and party colleague Gaus, Hubert Gorbach, also made a financial contribution to this company .

Political career

On October 5, 1999, after the state election on September 19 , Walter Gau entered the Vorarlberg state parliament as an independent member of the FPÖ Vorarlberg list in the Feldkirch electoral district . During the 27th legislative period, he took on the role of area spokesman for sport in the FPÖ club. From 2000 to 2005 Walter Gau was also a member of the city ​​council of Feldkirch for the FPÖ . After leaving the state parliament after the state elections in 2004 , Walter Gau became a non-partisan member of the state party executive of the BZÖ Vorarlberg as well as auditor of the state party on March 10, 2006 . In the same year he put both functions back.
