Walter Grabher-Meyer

Walter Grabher-Meyer (born February 2, 1943 in Lustenau ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and embroidery merchant. Walter Grabher-Meyer was a member of the National Council from 1979 to 1986 .

Life

After attending compulsory school from 1957 to 1961, Grabher-Meyer completed an apprenticeship as a printer and passed the journeyman's examination in 1961. He then worked as a book printer until 1968 and then founded the "Walter Grabher-Meyer company", a multi-head automatic embroidery company in Lustenau. Furthermore, Grabher-Meyer was from 1969 to 1972 chamber councilor of the chamber for workers and salaried employees for Vorarlberg in Feldkirch , from 1970 to 1979 local councilor in Lustenau and from 1982 FPÖ general secretary. He represented the FPÖ between June 5, 1979 and December 16, 1986 in the National Council and from 1983 was deputy chairman of the club of the Austrian Freedom Party. At the famous Innsbruck party congress of the FPÖ on September 13, 1986, at which Jörg Haider disempowered the previous party leadership, Grabher-Meyer suffered a heart attack.
