Walter Hess (politician)

Walter Hess (born October 5, 1949 , legal resident in Wuppenau ) is a former Swiss politician ( CVP ).

He spent his childhood in Jonschwil in the canton of St. Gallen . After studying mathematics at the ETH Zurich , he trained as a secondary teacher phil. II and taught at various secondary schools in the canton of St. Gallen until 1988.

In 1988 he was elected mayor of Oberriet SG . He was later elected as a representative of the CVP in the St. Gallen Cantonal Council (member 1992–2000) and the National Council. He was a member of the National Council from 1999 to 2003, where he was a member of the Security Policy Commission.

Walter Hess is married and has five children.
