Walter II Garnier
Walter II Garnier († between 1189 and 1191 before Acre ) was a lord of Caesarea in the Crusader kingdom of Jerusalem . His parents were Hugo Garnier and Isabella von Gothman.
Between 1176 and 1182, Walter succeeded his older brother, Guido Garnier , as Lord of Caesarea .
At the royal court, Walter probably belonged to his father-in-law's faction against that of Guido von Lusignan , who rose to king in 1186. It is unclear whether Walter fought in the Battle of Hattin in 1187 , but in July of that year he was on the side of Count Raymond III in the subsequent defense of Tire . called from Tripoli . After Saladin had conquered Acre, Caesarea also fell into his hands in 1187. In Tire Walter became a partisan of Conrad of Montferrat .
Walter died between July 1189 and July 1191 during the siege of Acre of a spreading epidemic. His sister Juliane Garnier inherited the claims to the rule of Caesarea, which was recaptured by the Third Crusade , restored and confirmed in 1192 in the course of a compromise between Saladin and Richard the Lionheart .
