Walter IV of Châtillon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Walter IV of Châtillon ( French Gaucher IV de Châtillon ; † ~ 1261/65) was lord of Châtillon , Crécy , Crèvecœur and Troissy from the House of Châtillon .

He was the third son of Hugo I of Châtillon († 1248), Count of Saint-Pol and Lord of Châtillon, and Mary of Avresnes , Countess of Blois. His older brothers were Count John I of Blois († 1279) and Count Guido II of Saint-Pol († 1289). As a later son, he received some subordinate castle and manorial lords, including the family seat in Châtillon-sur-Marne , in the division of inheritance decreed by his father in 1246 . He was last documented in December 1260 when he and his wife made a donation to the nuns of Notre-Dame du Pont . His wife confirmed in February 1265 a donation made by him (Gavchier de Chastillon Sires de Crecy) to the same religious institution. Apparently Walter IV had already died at this point.

Walter IV was married to Isabelle von Lezinnes († after 1265) from the Villehardouin family, a great-granddaughter of the chronicler Gottfried von Villehardouin, at the latest since 1258 . Your children were:
