Walter Jähnig (life dates unknown) is a former German football player.
Career
Jähnig belonged to the VfB Leipzig , for which he played point games from 1935 to 1937 in the Gauliga Sachsen , in one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the uniform top division in the German Reich .
With the team he took part in the competition for the Tschammerpokal , the cup competition for club teams introduced in 1935. He made his debut on September 6, 1936 in a 2-0 victory over Berliner SV 1892 in the round of 16 ; VfB Leipzig was the only home team to win the round. After he was able to victoriously end the encounters with VfB Peine and Wormatia Worms in the quarter and semi-finals , he moved into the final with VfB Leipzig.
The final, scheduled for January 3, 1937 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium , took place against last year's finalists FC Schalke 04 , with Fritz Szepan and Ernst Kuzorra in their ranks - and ended 2-1 for VfB Leipzig.
