Walter Major

The Walter Major is an aircraft engine from the Czechoslovak manufacturer Walter Motors as It was produced as a four-cylinder ( Major 4 ) from 1933 and a six-cylinder ( Major 6 ) from 1934.

construction

The Walter Major is an air-cooled four-stroke in - line engine . The suspended cylinders , each provided with two valves, consist of steel liners with bolted light metal heads . They are controlled by a camshaft in the crankcase via bumpers and rocker arms. The crankshaft with light metal connecting rods runs in plain bearings . The six-cylinder version has two carburettors in contrast to the four-cylinder engine, which has only one.

Furthermore, the Waltor Major was used in several types of aircraft by Beneš-Mráz . In detail, these were the Be-52, Be-56, Be-250, Be-251, Be-502 (Major 4) and Be-156 (Major 6).
