Walter Pries

Walter Pries (born December 22, 1902 in Hamburg ; † September 29, 1984 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and politics

Walter Pries was a trained coppersmith and also worked as a union secretary. From 1925 to 1933 he was active as a city councilor in Neuwied for the SPD .

He was employed as a commercial clerk in Hamburg from 1937 to 1949 before he worked for the DGB local committee in Hamburg in 1949 . In 1954 he was employed as a DGB legal representative at the regional social court.

Within his party, he was active as SPD district chairman in the post-war period. Pries sat for his party from 1946 to 1957 as a member of the Hamburg parliament .
