Walter Schramm (born February 20, 1895 as Walter Habich in Neisse ; † May 8, 1966 in East Berlin ) was a German actor and theater director.

Life

Walter Schramm was born under the name Walter Habich in Neisse in Prussian Upper Silesia . He began an apprenticeship as a businessman, but turned to the acting profession in 1912 at the age of 17. After engagements in Neisse and other places in Silesia but also in East Prussia, he went to Berlin at the end of the 1920s , where he began to work in dubbing studios and in film. After the end of World War II , Schramm directed the Pankow Volkstheater in East Berlin . Between 1949 and 1961 he played mostly supporting roles from the working class in a number of DEFA film productions before illness forced him to give up film work.
