Otto Dierichs

Otto Dierichs (born March 23, 1900 in Düsseldorf , † September 12, 1978 in Berlin ) was a German director and actor .

Life

Otto Dierichs was a student at the Düsseldorf Theater Academy with Louise Dumont. After graduating, he worked as an actor and director. From 1933 to 1945 he worked as a lecturer in acting at the Folkwang School in Essen. From 1945 he built a new drama school in Düsseldorf in order to subsequently work as an actor, dramaturge and director at the Dresden State Theater . At the same time he built an acting school here too.

In March 1950 Otto Dierichs was appointed by Wolfgang Langhoff to the Deutsche Theater Berlin to head the drama school there. He kept this job until May 1953 and was thus the founding director of the State Drama School in Berlin .

He has been a member of the GDR television actor ensemble since it was founded. He also worked as a director and actor in many television films, radio plays and DEFA films.
