Walter Schwier

Walter Schwier (born August 17, 1916 in Todtenhausen (Minden) , † May 16, 1978 in Herdecke ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and municipal official.

Life

After attending school with a secondary school leaving certificate, Schwier learned the trade of a businessman. From 1931 to 1933 he was a member of the Socialist Workers' Youth .

After participating in World War II, he returned to Todtenhausen in September 1946 from Soviet captivity in the Crimea .

In the same year he became a member of the SPD and the ÖTV trade union . From 1947 to 1961 he was a civil servant in what was then the district of Minden . From July 21, 1958 to July 22, 1962, he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia as a directly elected member of the constituency of Minden- Nord.

From 1961 to 1975 he was city ​​director in Herdecke. He was one of the pioneers for the Herdecke community hospital , which was inaugurated in 1969. For his services to the city of Herdecke, he was awarded the city's ring of honor.

From July 24, 1966 to May 27, 1975 he represented the constituency Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis II in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia.
