Walter Scott (singer)
Walter Scott , real name Walter Simon Notheis, Jr. (born February 7, 1943 in St. Louis , Missouri , † December 27, 1983 in Saint Peters , Missouri) was an American singer . In the 1960s he was the front man of the American band Bob Kuban and the In-Men .
life and career
Walter Scott was the only son of Walter and Kay Notheis. He grew up in St. Louis. In 1963 he joined Bob Kuban's group. In 1965 the band released the song The Cheater , which was a one-hit wonder and Walter Scott's only success. Scott left the band immediately afterwards to start a career as a solo artist.
He toured with cover bands in the 1970s and 1980s . In early 1983, Scott and Kuban appeared together for a television appearance and planned to reunite the band for their twentieth anniversary in June 1983.
Scott's first marriage ended in divorce. He then married JoAnn Calcaterra, the marriage also divorced at the time of his disappearance.
Disappearance and death
On December 27, 1983, Scott disappeared without a trace. JoAnn married James H. Williams in 1986, whose wife Sharon was killed in a car accident two months before Walter Scott disappeared. Scott's body was found in a cistern behind James Williams' house in April 1987 , handcuffed and shot in the back. The murder weapon was not found.

James Williams and JoAnn Williams were arrested on suspicion of murder. Further investigation revealed that Williams' first wife Sharon was also murdered. She died from a blow to the back of the head, the car accident was faked to cover up the crime. James H. Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the double murders of his wife Sharon Williams and Walter Scott. Williams denied the two murders. He died of a heart condition on September 13, 2011, at the age of 72 while serving his sentence.
JoAnn Williams pleaded guilty to obstructing the investigation and was sentenced to five years in prison, but was released early after 18 months.
