Walter Seidel (Manager)

Walter Seidel (born April 9, 1876 in Cologne , † March 21, 1944 in Oberstdorf ) was a German bank manager.

Life

After attending high school in Cologne, Walter Seidel studied law at the universities of Freiburg, Geneva and Bonn. In Freiburg he became a member of the Corps Rhenania in 1896 . In 1899 he passed the legal traineeship and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD.

After the assessor exam in 1904, he went to the Märkische Bank in Bochum, where he received power of attorney a year later. At the end of 1906 he switched to the Rheinisch-Westfälische Diskonto-Gesellschaft, where he became director of the Dortmund branch in 1907, head of the Bochum branch in 1908 and a deputy member of the supervisory board of the company in Aachen in 1908. In 1910 he was appointed a full board member. After the Rheinisch-Westfälische Diskonto-Gesellschaft merged with Dresdner Bank, he became director of the branch in Cologne in 1917.

Walter Seidel was chairman of the supervisory board of Niederrheinische Ölwerke AG in Goch and Parkhotel Aktiengesellschaft in Leipzig. He was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Hitdorfer Brauerei AG in Cologne. He was also a member of the supervisory boards of Leonhard Tietz AG in Cologne, Julius Pohlig AG in Cologne and the Herbig-Haarhaus lacquer factory in Cologne.
